Beautiful, Sustainable and Resilient
I am a Landscape Architect focusing on climate change adaption with an interest in WSUD and urban ecological systems. The aim of my research and practice is to deliver site-specific and considered projects to promote the creation of beautiful, sustainable and resilient spaces for a healthy community.
Experience and Styling
With more than 25 years’ experience designing gardens of all sizes in Europe, the UK, and Australia I have developed a unique process of collaboration with my clients. The outcome is a garden landscape that is a timeless expression of the home it is set in as well as the personality and vision of the current owners and a place where form and function are perfectly blended. A well-designed garden, like everything else that has the organic elegance of simplicity, grows in beauty and value every year and adds to the value and desirability of your property.
It is my firm belief that ‘fashion trends’ should never dictate your landscape design. There is a reason for every element in the gardens I design, whether that reason is functional or aesthetic, and I am proud of the fact that my garden designs stand the test of time and are seen as an integral part of the properties they enhance. New owners may change cosmetic aspects of the landscape, exchanging some plants for others of a different colour but they cherish the essential style and artistry of the garden, which is often the reason why they choose to purchase the property in the first place.
Purpose and Process
I work with my clients to think about how their garden will function both now and in the future. Some of the gardens I design are tiny - merely light wells or patio extensions to add space and openness to the property or meet Council requirements - yet they can still add an element of grace and function to your home. Others are extensive, and there is a lot of scope for variety and privacy.
Because I don’t walk in with a preconceived notion of ‘how a garden should look’, your garden will be a perfect expression of the place it adorns (with all its possibilities and opportunities) and your requirements.
We work together to decide what spaces you desire, then I create a landscape design that fulfils all your aesthetic criteria, along with the functional aspects of drainage, shelter, and privacy that are essential. From there we continue to discuss the design and implementation, seasonal factors, and future plans until we have planned a garden that will delight your eyes, nose, ears, and heart for the rest of its life.
